Akash Deep scored his maiden Test fifty on day three of the fifth and last Test of the five-match series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at The Oval on Saturday.
The Indian fast bowler came into the bat as a night-watchman on day 2 but turned night-hawk on Saturday.

Fan on social media were quick to point out head coach’s reaction after Akash Deep reached his fifty, with his Indian teamamtes gesturing him to take off his helmet and celebrate.

Akash Deep was eventually dismissed by Jamie Overton, with Gus Atkinson taking the catch, for 66 from 94 runs – with the help of 12 blistering boundaries.
What Happened In 1st Session On Day 3?
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akash Deep scored half-centuries as India recovered to reach 189 for 3 at lunch on the third day of the fifth and final Test at The Oval on Saturday.
Overnight batter Jaiswal (85 not out off 106 balls) was nearing his sixth Test century, while Akash Deep scored his maiden Test half-century. Their 107-run partnership for the third wicket provided the visitors with a lead of 166 runs against Ollie Pope’s England.
India had posted 224 in the first innings, followed by England’s 247, giving England a narrow 23-run lead going into the second innings.
Jaiswal’s performance followed a disappointing first inning where he scored just two runs.
India had lost two wickets in the final session on day two, with opener KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan scoring 7 and 11 runs, respectively.
England currently lead the series 2-1.
