Indian consumers will have an old entrant back in the phone market this year. It looks like Alcatel is returning to the Indian market with its smartphones.
The French company, which TCL Communication independently runs under a trademark license from Nokia, hasn’t been active in the Indian smartphone market for a few years. It has officially announced plans to return and introduce several high-end smartphones to the country.
The company will be locally manufacturing these devices in India which gives it the Make in India badge. In addition to production, the company aims to establish a statewide service network to guarantee consumer assistance.
The firm also mentioned that it will introduce high-end smartphones in the country. One of the devices from Alcatel will be paired with a stylus like the Samsung Galaxy S Ultra models.
Alcatel will manufacture its new smartphones locally from the beginning. For customer support, the company has also confirmed plans to set up a pan-India service network which is essential for buyers to know before getting its products.
The French tech company has not released a new phone in India since 2018 which is a long time in the market. Despite operating on a trademark license from Nokia, the brand has come out many models, including the Alcatel 1, Alcatel TKEE Mini, and Alcatel 3L (2021).
The company’s return to the Indian smartphone market would be marked by the release of new Alcatel phones. It will be competing with the likes of OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo in a heavily crowded market where the buyers already have options and will be getting new one.
