Godda’s famous general physician Dr JP Bhagat said eating soaked almonds has many benefits. Eating almonds in large quantities can hurt the digestive system as it contains high fibre and fat. It can cause gas problems.
According to the doctor, almonds can also cause allergies in some people. Its symptoms can range from mild to severe causing more skin-related issues. Likewise, due to goitrogenic elements in almonds, it can also cause thyroid problems.
It can also lead to constipation because consuming too much fibre without drinking enough water can lead to these problems. Additionally, extra fibre has the potential to bind to other minerals and prevent the bloodstream from absorbing those nutrients. It can also lead to problems like nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
Consuming too much almonds could also result in a Vitamin E overdose. Additionally, an excessive amount of almonds can be harmful if a person already consumes other food, high in Vitamin E such as whole grains and fortified cereals. It contains a lot of intestine-soluble oxalates, which are chemicals that can cause kidney stones and renal failure. According to reports, almond oxalates are highly bioavailable with 469 milligrams of oxalate present in 100 grams of roasted almonds.
Our body needs between 10 and 15 almonds per day. Hence, we should consider the following measures before consuming too many almonds.
