American Airlines inflicts flight from hell on South Korea-bound passengers who spent nine hours in the air for nothing

An American Airlines flight out of Dallas flew for five hours before suddenly turning around.

The maneuver left passengers in the air for nine hours, without ever getting to their destination.

One passenger, 41-year-old Jimin Lee, took out their phone to record the experience, and claimed flight staff didn’t offer an explanation about the unexpected U-turn.

Lee posted to the video to her Instagram account, which she runs with another mother.

She proceeded to tag the airline in the post, which was published on September 10, and has 55,000 views.

‘New fear unlocked: Your flight to Korea may go five hours and come back with zero explanation,’ a caption seen in the clip states.

‘Just relax,’ she and others were told.

She added in an interview with DailyMail.com that the flight had been en route to Incheon International Airport in Seoul, on September 7.

‘American Airlines needs a lesson in effective communication,’ she adds in the video, as images of the plane’s flight path are seen on the screen on the seat ahead of her.

They show how the plane had crossed the entire contiguous US, and was well over part of the Pacific Ocean before it abruptly turned back.

‘They said it’s bc of the right side of the bathrooms are[sic] are not working,’ captions claim as the footage continues.

‘Pilot asked if anyone was carrying a Phillips screwdriver to help fix the bathroom,’ she then states, adding  series of question marks to illustrate the situation’s absurdity.

‘The only vice I had available to me – Flaming hot Cheetos,’ she writes, as a snippet of her snacking in the dark as the flight makes its way  back to the Lone Star State appears on-screen.

‘Needed a ramyun and a strong drink,’ a corresponding caption states, before the footages fast-forwards to the plane flying over Dallas, where the pilot is heard remarking there’s ‘clear skies.’

‘Nine hours later we’re back in Dallas,’ Lee concludes. ‘Lost [sic] for words.’

She went on to tag both American and Cheetos, before airing a follow-up that showed her finally enjoying a hard-earned meal.

DailyMail.com did not immediately receive a response from the airline following a Monday request for comment, but according to Jimin, the malfunction that warranted the abrupt about-face has yet to be fully explained.

It remains unclear whether staffers at the Airline have followed up on her complaints, but DailyMail.com has asked for clarification in a Monday request
