Meat lovers looking for an incredible steak may want to consider visiting one of America’s top steakhouses of 2024.
Yelp released its annual list this month featuring what diners consider the best steakhouses in the US.
Each restaurant featured on this year’s list has a nearly 5-star Yelp rating from patrons.
Yelp also revealed three steak trends to watch out for: all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouses, South American steaks, and modernized traditional steaks.
Nearly all the steakhouses Yelp featured on the list have follow one of these trends.
The restaurants that made the final cut are located in 16 states, including Illinois, California, and New York.
Nine of the states are home to at least two of Yelp’s top-ranked locations.

Yelp announced this year’s list of the best steakhouses in the US
No. 1: Penumbra (Chicago, Illinois)

Penumbra Restaurant & Wine Bar in Chicago, Illinois is described as a venue that ‘provides a great ambiance for couples or groups looking to lounge and dine without the hassle of having to drive downtown.’
Some of Penumbra’s most notable offerings are its full bar, happy hour specials, and acceptance of reservations and walk-in guests.
‘This is a hidden gem,’ one visitor wrote on Yelp.
‘Lovely, quiet place with low lighting and mellow music.’
Besides earning the top steakhouse honor, Yelp gave Penumbra named it No. 1 on its 2024 list of the top 100 romantic restaurants.
Three steak entrees on its online menu cost less than $50.
Penumbra is open Wednesday to Sunday but has a history of being overbooked on Valentine’s Day.
No. 2: Halls Chophouse (Charleston, South Carolina)

Halls Chophouse is a fan-favorite steakhouse in Charleston, South Carolina, with nearly 50,000 Instagram followers.
The restaurant is known for serving its guests ‘tender’ and ‘juicy’ steaks with cuts that come from Allen Brothers top-grade meat.
‘We source only the finest beef, which is expertly prepared and aged to enhance tenderness and flavor,’ General Manager Sara Faienza said.
The Charleston location offers several pricey steak entrees.
Cuts at the restaurants include a $35 Japanese A5 Wagyu Filet and a $165 Australian ‘Westholme’ New York Strip.
‘The food was amazing as well. The pepper jack creamed corn skillet was creamy and delicious, best side hands down,’ one Yelp user wrote.
‘My husband loved his prime ribeye steak sandwich. It was a little on the rare side for me, but he enjoys that.’
The Halls Chophouse in Charleston is open seven days week, and the restaurant chain advises guests to make a reservation before walking into one of its five locations.
No. 3: Shay’s Steaks (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

Shay’s Steaks in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, described its recent Yelp ranking as ‘surreal’ in an Instagram post.
The restaurant offers Philly cheesesteaks with fresh meat that one wouldn’t find in a freezer.
‘We bring in prime rib, New York strip, filet mignon, and wagyu beef every morning,’ Shay’s Steaks owner Scott DiClaudio told Yelp.
Some of the steaks featured in Shay’s sandwiches include sirloin and prime rib, and nearly everything on its menu is less than $50.
‘I had the New York strip sandwich. The steak was so tender and the toppings and seasonings were perfect,’ a Shay’s Steaks customer wrote.
Several others insisted customers should visit the restaurant ‘at least once’ while in Philadelphia.
Shay’s Steaks is open every day of the week from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.
No. 4: La Cosecha Argentinian Steakhouse (Medley, Florida)

The La Cosecha Argentinian Steakhouse in Medley, Florida, is known for its meats.
Steakhouse server Sasha Leston claimed meat is the restaurant’s ‘main focus’ while speaking with Yelp.
‘We start with great-quality beef, then [slow] cook it on the parrilla [grill],’ she added.
The restaurant’s steak dishes can be expensive, with its Angus Certified Tomahawk coming in at a whopping $189.
Leston said the entree everyone asks for is the $82.95 Entraña Con Cuero – a black angus skirt steak with french fries and broken fried eggs.
Other meals restaurant guests tried at the restaurant include beef empanadas and the Bife Gaucho.
‘We usually share the bone-in ribeye with mashed potatoes and fries along with a bottle of Malbec. The steak is cooked to perfection every single time,’ a frequent guest wrote on Yelp.
‘I want to try other things on their menu, but the ribeye is so good that it’s hard not to put it on repeat, though I am sure we will eventually try something new.’
The restaurant is a popular lunch spot open six days a week. It features live music on Saturday nights.
No. 5: Fazenda Gaúcha (Bedford, Texas)

The Fazenda Gaúcha in Bedford, Texas, ‘elevates the traditional Churrascaria style, offering exceptional service and a memorable dining experience.’
‘We still use the old ways, the gaucho style that’s inherited from my grandpas, who were born in Brazil,’ chef and restaurant owner Beto Reyes told Yelp.
One meal Yelp members spoke highly of was the Pincha, Brazil’s favorite and most popular cut that’s rich in flavor, according to the restaurant’s online menu.
Beto revealed the Pincha is Fazenda Gaúcha’s signature steak, and the secret to making it includes ‘charcoal, salt, and steak.’
‘We’d have never been to a Brazilian steakhouse and the experience and the food did not disappoint,’ one guest wrote on Yelp.
‘Didn’t have a bad bite all night and loved getting to try the different cuts and meats.’
Restaurant guests also praised the steakhouse’s Monday to Friday $22.95 lunch special and its everyday $39.99 dinner special.
The restaurant is open seven nights a week, and lunch and dinner prices vary depending on the day and time of dining.
