Angelina Jolie puts on brave face with son Knox as she’s seen for first time since Maria Oscars snub

Angelina Jolie was spotted on Thursday afternoon with son Knox, 16 – the first time she’s been seen since her Maria Oscars snub.

The movie star, 49, put on a brace face as she pushed her grocery cart with her son walking alongside her.

She looked elegant in a cream colored trench coat, layered over a black maxi dress. adding sunglasses and ballet flats.

The actress is reportedly devastated over her snub for her lead role in the film, as insiders claim Hollywood has sided with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.

The Oscar nominations were announced just hours prior to her grocery run – with the star not getting a nod – despite critical acclaim of her performance as Maria.

Angelina played opera singer Maria Callas in the Pablo-Larrain directed biopic.

Her sighting comes one day before her son Pax, 21, has been involved  in another e-bike crash after riding hands free.

Angelina poured herself into the ‘personal’ role by learning to sing opera and also endured a grueling Hollywood press cycle to promote the movie.

The mom of six won her first Oscar 25 years ago in 200 for her role in Girl, Interrupted.

Angelina did earn a Best Actress nod for the Golden Globes, which took place January 5 – but she did not win.

Actress Fernanda Torres won for I’m Still Here.

She also did not get a Screen Actors Guild nomination.

Page Six sources said that the lack of a nomination from the Academy Awards could ‘devastate’ the actress.

The insider said she desperately ‘wanted to get nominated.’

‘Angelina will be devastated … look at all the press she did for the film — she wanted to get nominated,’ the source revealed.

‘She did Jimmy Fallon, her first late-night show in over a decade. She even went to the Gotham awards. She did all these magazine covers.’

An anonymous Hollywood awards expert told the outlet that the lack of acknowledgement from the Academy ‘wasn’t great for Angelina – or Netflix,’ who produced Maria’ and that the actress will ‘undoubtedly be upset.’

A different insider speculated that Jolie’s snub was related to her bitter divorce from fellow Oscar-winner Brad Pitt, which was finalized last month after an eight-year battle.

They argued that Jolie is highly favored by the foreign press while Brad remains Hollywood’s golden boy.

‘This just shows that Hollywood is Team Brad,’ the source claimed. ‘The Globes showed that the foreign press loves her, but that’s not Hollywood. Nobody was going to go against Brad and give Angelina a vote … people just love Brad.’

Another source pointed out that while social ‘politics’ can come into play at awards season, the Academy decided to nominate a slew of first-timers instead of past winners like Angelina and Nicole Kidman, whose performance in the erotic thriller Babygirl was also ignored.

‘The divorce is done, and yes, politics do come into play a little alongside the films and the performances. But the fact is that there are a lot of first-time nominees shows that we still have a healthy industry,’ the source told the outlet Thursday.

Instead of Angelina and Nicole, Demi Moore (The Substance), Cynthia Erivo, (Wicked), Mikey Madison (Anora), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez) and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) will battle it out in the Best Actress category at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2.

Maria marked Jolie’s long-awaited return to the big screen after a years-long hiatus spent honing her directorial skills and spending time with her six children.

The film, which had a limited theatrical release before premiering on Netflix in December, follows ‘Maria Callas (Jolie), who lives the last days of her life in 1970s Paris, as she confronts her identity and life,’ as per IMDb.

Despite critical acclaim, it was announced Thursday that Jolie's portrayal of late opera singer Maria Callas in the Pablo Larraín-directed biopic did not receive a Best Actress nomination at the 2025 ceremony

Days before her appearance at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, Jolie reached a settlement in her divorce from Brad — eight years after she first filed papers, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

The Girl, Interrupted star is ‘exhausted’ and ‘relieved’ that ‘this one part’ of the family’s ‘healing’ journey is done and dusted.

Angelina’s lawyer James Simon told PEOPLE: ‘More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt.

‘She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.

‘This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.’

Angelina filed for divorce from Brad in September 2016 – after just two years of marriage.

It came just days after a journey on a private plane in which Angelina claimed Brad was abusive to her and their six children — Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16 — but authorities did not charge him after investigating.

Angelina and Brad later released a joint statement declaring that they would keep all divorce proceedings private for the sake of their children.

They said: ‘The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues.

‘The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.’

They were declared legally single in 2019 but were locked in a lengthy battle over custody and legal issues over their French estate and winery, Château Miraval, following their split.
