Apple has launched a dedicated app for events and invitations that can be created and shared on the web or with iPhone users.
The new Invites app from Apple is available on iPhone and some features are not free
The Apple Invites app has launched this week, and as the name suggests, the platform linked with iCloud allows you to create and share event invitations with other iPhone and even Android users. The new app is available on the App Store and you need an iPhone running on iOS 18 version or later. Invites is basically Apple showing off its ecosystem and helps you link albums, music playlist and even send RSVPs to non-Apple devices.
Apple Invites App: What You Get
The new Invites app is available for free on the App Store but some of the premium features need you to have the iCloud+ subscription which starts from Rs 75 per month in India which gives you 50GB storage for photos and files.
In fact, you can create these events on the app but other features like sharing a playlist or even sending the invites to other people needs you to upgrade to iCloud+ for your account.
The app works easily and one tap lets you create a new event, edit the background to match the theme, feed other details like date, time and location. The shared album and playlist support allows the invitees to access the content and view them on their devices. But the moment you decide about sending the new invite, Apple reminds you to upgrade to iCloud+ which unlocks all these features and more.
Apple has also mentioned that as of now, Android users cannot create events using the Invites but they can freely receive invitations and RSVP through a web-based interface. Some might say did Apple really need an app for invites when you have Calendar and other platforms available. But it seems the company is tapping into another means of making money from its services.
