MacBooks with the new M4 chipset will be launching soon

Apple has introduced the M4 processor on the iPad Pros earlier this year but now it is time to see them with the Mac lineup

Apple is planning to upgrade its Mac lineup with the highly anticipated M4-chipset by later this year. As per Bloomberg, the company is going bring the new in-house processors designed to highlight artificial intelligence (AI). Also, the company might be introducing a new Mac Mini this year.

The report suggested that Apple is going to revamp its MacBook Pro lineup, as well as a redesigned Mac Mini, both of which will use the new M4 silicon. There will be new iMacs, a low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and Mac Minis, all featuring M4 processors.

Talking about the M4 chip, the company launched the chipset along with their new iPad Pro model at their Let Loose event earlier this year. It uses TSMC’s (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited) advanced second-generation 3nm process promising enhanced performance and efficiency.

While the processor is currently available in Apple’s most powerful iPad Pro, it is expected to appear in the MacBook Pro and iMac models by the end of this year, making it more powerful and efficient.

Mark Gurman, in his report, stated that the MacBook Air, Mac Studio and Mac Pro will also receive the M4 enhancements, however, they are scheduled for 2025. “The new chip will come in at least three main varieties and Apple is looking to update every Mac model with it,” he added.

The entry-level M4 chip, codenamed Donan, will power the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini. The first high-end chip, codenamed Brava, will debut in the Mac Studio, higher-spec MacBook Pro models and a higher-end Mac mini. However, the highest-end Apple desktop, the Mac Pro will be getting the new Hydra Chip, as per 9To5Mac.

According to the report, the M4 chip will primarily improve the computer performance, but one Mac model will undergo significant alterations. This could be a new Mac mini model, which the analyst claims will be released this year.

The company last introduced a new Mac mini model in 2023 with an M2 chip. However, since then there have been no major upgrades to its Mac Mini models.
