Banks in India will remain open on Saturday, June 5, other than Jammu and Kashmir. According to the holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India, banks in Jammu and Kashmir will remain shut due to the birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind Ji, the sixth of the 10 Sikh Gurus.

As per the RBI’s official notification, banks have seven listed holidays in July this year. Other than the mentioned ones, the regular second and fourth Saturday, and all Sunday offs will be in place.

The holiday list is prepared by the central bank and state governments considering all national and local festivities, cultural celebrations and operational requirements. The list is released on the RBI’s official portal. The banks and other financial institutions are also notified. The annual holiday calendar is created under provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Here is the list of upcoming bank holidays in the month of July:

Bank Holidays In July 2025

July 5 (Saturday): Banks will not be operational in Jammu and Srinagar for the birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind Ji.

July 6 (Sunday): Banks will not function across India.

July 12 (Saturday): Second Saturday – Banks will be shut across the country.

July 13 (Sunday): Banks will be closed all over the nation.

July 14 (Monday): Banks will not be operational in Shillong due to Behdienkhlam.

July 16 (Wednesday): Bank in Dehradun will be closed as Harela will be celebrated on that day.

July 17 (Thursday): Banks will not be open in Shillong owing to the death Anniversary of U Tirot Singh.

July 19 (Saturday): Bank holiday in Agartala on the occasion of Ker Puja.

July 20 (Sunday): Banks will be shut across India.

July 26 (Saturday): Banks across the country will not function on this day.

July 27 (Sunday): Banks will be closed across India.

July 28 (Monday): Bank holiday in Gangtok for Drukpa Tshe-zi.

What To Do In Emergencies On Bank Holidays

Customers can avail online or mobile banking services even on bank holidays. Unless there’s any technical glitch informed by the authorities, one can use mobile banking to get things done. Cash withdrawals are also possible at ATMs, through apps or via UPI.

It is to be noted that holidays may differ across states as per regional and local requirements. Therefore, it is always safer to check with your local bank branch for their holiday schedule in advance. This will help you prepare in case of emergencies or long weekends.
