AI is slowly becoming a selling topic for phone brands like Apple but are people really interested in these features yet?
Apple introduced the new AI features for its iPhones, Macs and iPads this year. The company has talked highly about its AI technology which has invariably piqued our interest. But has all the hype triggered a demand avalanche for the new iPhones or any model that runs these features? A new report this week gives us some idea about the market sentiments around the Apple AI tech and if that has made them upgrade to the new iPhones.
Yes, AI Matters
There has been a survey done among people who were asked about their interest around Apple Intelligence and do iPhone buyers consider it as a reason to buy one. The good news for the company is that around 47 percent of the people surveyed said they are interested in the new AI features from Apple and see it as one of the deciding factors when buying the new iPhone model.
At the same time, only 23 percent of the Samsung users see AI as a big factor in upgrading to the new models. To be fair, Samsung has offered the new AI features to a wider range of older models, which unlike Apple means they don’t really need to buy the new phone.
Now, the Bad News
Apple has seen its efforts deliver sense to the consumers but the actual use case of these AI features are yet to add value to these people. And that will be a cause of concern to Apple which has been slow with its AI progress, and most features only rolling out after the new iPhone 16 series has been made available in the market.
The survey says 73 percent and 87 percent of Apple AI and Galaxy AI users, respectively, haven’t found value with the new features and bring nothing substantial to their overall experience.
The alarming stats from the survey will surely get the likes of Apple and Samsung worried about their investment in the technology and the way forward. Google is equally part of the AI era, and its new Pixel 9 series phones have the Gemini AI prowess that may have a better shout among the buyers even though the Pixel phones don’t sell as much as the other two tech giants.
Companies are doing their best to help people make sense of the new AI features but very little has come out of their efforts. Apple does have a lot more in the works, and support for more languages in 2025 could go a long way in reaching millions with its AI features. ChatGPT is also going to show its value gradually and we’re all waiting for that day when AI truly makes sense for everyone.
