An Arizona man has been charged with manslaughter after his unruly dogs attacked and killed a neighbor.
Martin Martinez, 60, was arrested after his five vicious dogs escaped his property and attacked 43-year-old Kevin Renguul on March 30, reported KOLD.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Renguul was found on bleeding from several bites and a pack of dogs around him on the 5000 block of West Camino Tierra.
He was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries, which he battled for nearly four days before he died on Wednesday.
Renguul received at least 15 blood transfusions and had two surgeries to treat his injuries before he passed, according to court documents obtained by KOVA.
He had to be intubated and connected to machines to support his lung and kidney functions while he fought for his life.
‘It’s just sad that Mr. Renguul, fight as he will, these are some pretty big dogs,’ said Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.
Police said the dogs escaped from Martinez’s property and the canines had a violent history, including killing other neighbors’ pets.

‘Mr. Martinez has been dealing with past cases, several where his dogs have been loose and have attacked various people in the neighborhood,’ Nanos said.
According to court documents, there have been three previous reports the Pima County Sheriff’s Department involving Martinez’s dogs biting people.
Since 2022, the Pima Animal Control received eight additional reports of people getting bit by Martinez’s canines.
‘Some neighbors have also reported their animals being attacked or killed, sometimes on their own property by Martin’s dogs,’ the document said.
The dogs were mixed breeds, including German Shepherd, Pitbull, Cane Corso and Mastiff, according to the filings.
Animal Control confirmed it impounded six dogs from the home. The sixth dog, a Mastiff mix, was not involved in the fatal attack.
Martinez was charged with manslaughter, endangerment and assault by a vicious animal.
He is being held on a $275,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court on April 14.

In Colorado, a woman was arrested after her 54 dogs allegedly mauled her dementia-stricken elderly mother to death.
Jessica Hoff, 47, has been arrested and charged with criminal negligence resulting in death and 54 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, following the gruesome death of her mother LaVonne Hoff, 76.
Hoff allegedly left LaVonne home alone with Hoff’s dogs during the day while she ran errands.
Her mother was later found unresponsive by law enforcement on February 3.
Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to Hoff’s home at 5.30pm and found ‘several dogs loose inside the home along with at least a dozen more dogs in cages.’
LaVonne Hoff’s autopsy revealed her death was a result of a dog attack, sheriffs said in a press release.
Sheriffs added that LaVonne reportedly had dementia and required 24-hour care.
Detectives learned that while LaVonne Hoff was left alone, she was attacked by the dogs that were loose in the home, sheriffs said.
The investigation led to the search of the home and another property Hoff owned in Colorado City, finding a total of 54 dogs and seven birds in her possession.
