Arsenal Interested In Signing Inter Milan Forward Marcus Thuram, Gabriel Jesus May be Part Of Swap Deal: Report

Arsenal’s failure to sign a striker this summer seems to have forced them to find a suitable goal-scoring option. Despite being linked with prolific goalscorers like Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen, the Premier League giants could not secure the signing of a striker. It has now been learnt that Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of a new goal-scoring figure. Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram is reportedly being sought by the Gunners. A report published by Inter Live claimed that Arsenal are targeting to land the French forward from the Italian giants. The article went on to claim that Thuram’s potential arrival at Arsenal may involve a swap deal. Inter Live reported that Arsenal may put their forward Gabriel Jesus, along with additional cash, in the bid to secure the signing of Thuram.

Ravaged by injuries and fitness issues, Jesus did not have a fruitful campaign with Arsenal last season. Jesus netted four goals in 27 Premier League appearances last season and he even lost his place to Kai Havertz. Having arrived at the Emirates Stadium in 2022, Jesus has scored 19 goals in 70 matches across all competitions.

In the pre-season, Jesus had scored against teams like Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen. Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta had talked about Jesus’ performance after the 27-year-old scored in a pre-season friendly win against Manchester United.

“He looks really good. He looks really sharp. He has changed a lot of things over the summer. He has come in top condition again. And when you have that baseline, other things can be built but without that foundation you don’t have a player. He needs to be in that condition to get the best out of him. He has realised that. And I’m really happy with what he’s shown today again,” Arteta had said, as per ESPN, in July while reacting to Jesus’ performance.

Meanwhile, Thuram has kicked off the ongoing season on a promising note having recorded four goals in three appearances so far. The French international had signed for Inter Milan from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer and till now he has appeared for the Serie A giants 49 times. Overall, Thuram has 19 goals under his belt across all competitions for Inter Milan. The 27-year-old has also made 26 appearances in international football.
