A deadly explosion reportedly occurred on Thursday at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department training facility, resulting in multiple casualties.

According to early reports by Fox, at least three people were in the blast, which is believed to have happened adjacent to a bomb squad vehicle.

The explosion was powerful enough to blow out several nearby vehicle windows, pointing to the intensity of the blast. The exact cause of the explosion is not yet known, and authorities have not released an official statement.

The LA Times newspaper quoted unnamed sources as saying that the facility’s bomb squad was moving explosives when the blast took place.

Emergency responders have rushed to the scene, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Attorney General Pam Bondi posted on X that there “appears to be a horrific incident that killed at least three at a law enforcement training facility” and that investigators were on-site “working to learn more.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office said he had been briefed on “the reported explosion” and was “closely monitoring the situation.”
