A tour van collision left at least seven dead near Yellowstone National Park after both vehicles caught on fire on Thursday evening. 

The deadly collision left seven dead after a tour bus crashed into a Dodge Ram pickup truck, according to Idaho police.

Thursday night at 7.15pm on a highway near Henry’s Lake State Park, 16 miles west of Yellowstone, the two vehicles collided before both caught on fire.

The driver of the pickup truck was reported to have died along with six others in the tour van, which was carrying a group of 14 people in total.

Idaho State Police have not released how many others involved in the crash were injured, and the names of the victims have yet to be released.

Air ambulances and emergency paramedics responded to the scene.

It remains unclear what caused the deadly crash as the investigation remains ongoing.

Victim of the fiery Yellowstone tour van crash has been identified

The driver who died in the horror two-vehicle crash near Yellowstone national park has been identified by The Fremont County Coroner.

Isaiah Moreno, 25, was named as the driver who perished in the crash that exploded into flames 16 miles west of the iconic naitonal park.

The other six victims are yet to be identified as the coroner awaits DNA test results after their bodies were left unrecognizable, The New York Times reported.

All six victims were visiting from outside of the US, coroner Brenda Dye told the outlet.

It remains unclear where four of those who died were visiting from, Dye said, but two victims were determined to have been visiting from Italy.

The group had been touring Yellowstone, she added.

Following the deadly crash, two others on the highway jumped from their vehicles and attempted to pull people from the fiery wreck.

She said they were ‘trying to pull out as many as they could’ from the wreck, and succesfully helped eight people from the van, including a child, before it burst into flames.

Passerby recalls the moment he watched in horror as fire engulfed the deadly Yellowstone collision

The two-vehicle crash near Yellowstone national park which killed at least seven people and injured eight, erupted into flames as one passerby watched in horror.

Roger Merrill, 60, told the Associated Press that he had been driving home when he came across the grisly scene.

Merrill said he saw the flames engulf the two vehicles as bystanders looked on in horror on the side of the highway and attempted to care for the remaining survivors.

‘It is a very dangerous highway because it leads to the main entrance of Yellowstone National Park,’ he said. ‘It’s extremely busy.’

He was able to capture the scene in a video which showed the billowing smoke rise from the fire-coated crash scene.

Merrill told the outlet he often saw tourist vans on the highway leading to the national park, and was concerned about emergency response times due to its remote location.

‘It took an unnervingly long time for help to arrive just because of the location,’ he said.

Deadly crash just 16 miles from iconic Yellowstone national park

A horror two-vehicle crash that left at least seven dead sparked into flames just 16 miles west of Yellowstone national park.

Yellowstone, estalished in 1872 as the world’s first national park, is a favorite for over 4 million annual visitors with thousands of miles of trails and hiking.

Archeological sites, trails and stories date human life within the park for more than 11,000 years.

It’s 2.2 million acres are rich with geological wonders such as the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone river, at roughly 20 miles along.

The park is a haven for a range of wildlife, such as black bears, mountain lions, nearly 300 bird species, moose, and wolverines.

At 28,000 sqaure miles, it is one of the largest, nearly intact temperate-zone ecosystems on Earth, according to the National Park Service.

Eight injured and seven killed in deadly Yellowstone tour bus crash

The pickup truck and tour van collision near Yellowstone left at least seven dead and eight others were transported to hospital, Idaho police said.

Both vehicles erupted into flames after the crash on Thursday evening on a highway near Henry’s Lake state park in eastern Idaho.

Idaho State Police said in a press release that the driver of the Dodge Ram pickup and six people inside the Mercedes passenger van died.

The van was carrying a group of 14 tourists, and the surviving occupants were taken to hospital for their injuries, police spokesman Aaron Snell told The Detroit News.

An investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing.

Idaho State Police said they were still attempting to contact family members of those killed and injured. Their identities have not yet been released.

Roads close following horror tour van crash near Yellowstone national park

A two-vehicle collision that killed seven near Yellowstone national park caused the nearby highway to shut down as emergency crews converged on the scene.

After the vehicles exploded into flames at around 7.15pm on Thursday evening, the US 20 was shut down in both directions.

The highway reopened at around 2am on Friday morning.

ISP is leading the investigaiton into the cause of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Yellowstone crash victims are taken for identification following fiery collision

As investigators continue to determine the cause of the deadly crash, the bodies of the seven confirmed victims were taken to the coroner to be indentified.

The victims were transported to the Fremont County Coroner’s Office, where the cause of their death will be determined and their names will be released following familiy notification.

At least seven were killed in the crash, including six passengers on the tour bus and the driver of the pickup truck.

The tour van was carrying a total of 14 people, and it remains unclear how many others sustained injuries.

A vehicle involved was seen engulfed in flames while emergency crews converged onto the scene.

Fire crews and a medical helicopter responded while smoke and flames blazed on the road, East Idaho News reported.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at around 7.15pm on Thursday evening, around 16 miles west of Yellowstone naitonal park.
