At least three people are feared dead after a small plane missed an airport runway, struck a car then exploded in a fireball as it hit the ground.
The crash happened in Boca Raton, Florida, shortly after 10am local time Friday. The plane appears to be a Cessna 310R, with horrific images showing fire and smoke raging at the crash site as multiple sirens screech.
At least three people are believed to have died in the crash, The Sun Sentinel reported.
The aircraft hit a car and pushed it onto the railroad tracks when it came down, according to Lt. Karl Richards with Boca Raton Fire Rescue.
Residents of the area have been sharing images of the cloud of smoke coming from the crash site.
NBC 6 reported that ‘what appeared to be two bodies were seen in the wreckage and a damaged vehicle was also nearby.’
A witness wrote on X: ‘Possible plane crash right outside my office today. Shook the whole building. Unfortunately I’m certain lives were lost here today.
‘Thoughts and prayers to anyone who survived and the families of those who didn’t. If you’re in Boca stay away from military trail near the glades overpass.’
