A man has been rushed to hospital after he was allegedly stabbed at a major shopping centre on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Emergency services were called to Australia Fair shopping centre on Marine Parade in Southport at around 12.20pm on Friday.
A man in his early 40s was treated by paramedics for a wound to his chest.
He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
The incident is reported to have occurred in a public toilet near the centre’s Woolworths supermarket, reported 9News.
Section of the shopping centre remain cordoned off as police establish a crime scene.
The location is across the road from the Gold Coast Show, which has drawn thousands of people to the Broadwater Parklands amid 31C temperatures.
In March this year a young woman was stabbed at the Pacific Fair shopping centre on the corner of Hooker Boulevard and Gold Coast Highway in Broadbeach.
The woman aged in her 20s, was discovered with two stab wounds.
There have also been serious incidents involving knives at shopping centres in Melbourne and Sydney, including the horrific death of six people at Westfield Bondi Junction in April.
