The national-championship celebrations for Ohio State came to a crashing halt, literally, late on Monday evening after the cart taking Buckeyes’ representatives to the post-game press conference stalled after being driven into a wall.Â
The Buckeyes won their first national championship since 2014 with their triumph over Notre Dame. Everyone was jovial until the crash.Â
The cart was being driven by what looks like an official for the College Football Playoff or Mercedes-Benz Stadium.Â
After picking up head coach Ryan Day, quarterback Will Howard, and linebacker Cody Simon from the locker room, a hard left turn was attempted by the driver.Â
The wheel was not cut hard enough, as the cart speeds right into the wall, sending the Buckeyes trio into a near-whiplash.Â
Day did not look happy with having to walk to the post-game press conference, while Simon and Howard laughed it off.Â

No one was injured in the crash, with the cart attempting to be dislodged from the wall unsuccessfully at first.Â
The damage to the cart was seen after, with the axis of the vehicle looking off center.Â
Ohio State defeated Notre Dame 34-23 on Monday night, rattling off four wins after losing its regular season finale to Michigan.Â
The Buckeyes entered the first 12-team CFP with Day’s job security highly in question after missing out on that elusive national title during his tenure in Columbus. Â
Now, Day appears to be as protected as any head coach in America for restoring Ohio State’s place atop college football’s hierarchy.Â
Not even being on a cart crashing into a wall to end its season can ruin that.Â
