Baby Reindeer’s Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning had the night of their lives at the 2024 Primetime Emmys in LA on Sunday.
The Netflix smash hit scooped four awards at the ceremony held at The Peacock Theater, and its stars Gadd and Jessica Gunning showed off their haul in behind the scenes snaps.
Gadd won the awards for Writing for a Limited or Anthology series or Movie and Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology series or Movie for the Netflix phenomenon – based on his own harrowing experiences of being stalked.
Martha actress Gunning, 38, won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie prize for her role as the crazed fan of Gadd’s Donny Dunn and the show also triumphed in the Outstanding Limited or Anthology series category.
The wins send a clear message of support for Gadd and his show, which has came under fire from those who claimed to have been depicted by the series. Fiona Harvey came forward claiming to be the inspiration behind Martha, alleging the story was inaccurate, and filed a lawsuit against Netflix.
A hearing is scheduled for September 16 while a federal judge has set a 6 May start date for the trial, with proceedings are estimated to last about two weeks, according to Deadline.

Sitting on the sidewalk in his kilt, Richard looked teary-eyed as he posed with his three gongs.
He shared a poignant message which, in his earlier acceptance speech, he attributed to his parents.
‘Follow your heart and the rest will fall into place,’ he wrote. In his speech for his second award – lead actor – Richard revealed they were words that his parents always said to him as a child.
‘I’d like to thank my mum and dad. They’re the best,’ the told the star-studded audience.
‘We’ve had trying times as a family and they have been there for me, a constant course of love and support. They never ever told me what I needed to do with my life and they never told me what I needed to be.’
‘I think that’s the greatest gift a parent can give a child. They always said follow your heart and the rest will fall into place. I think that’s good advice. Follow your heart and the rest will fall into place.’
Beating Black Mirror, Fargo, Fellow Travelers, Ripley and True Detective: Night Country to the Writing award, Gadd was visibly emotional as he took to the stage, telling the crowd: ‘Oh, wow. Thanks so much. This is the stuff of dreams. Thanks so much to the Academy. Thank you to Netflix for letting me tell the story to the world.

‘Look, ten years ago, I was down and out, right? I never ever thought I would get my life together. I never thought I would be able to rectify myself and get myself back on my feet again.
‘Here I am just a decade later picking up one of the biggest awards in television, yeah. Now, I don’t mean that – I don’t mean that to sound arrogant. I mean that for anyone going through a difficult time right now to persevere.
‘I don’t know much about this life. But I do know nothing lasts forever. And no matter how bad it gets, it always gets better. If you are struggling, keep going. And I promise you things will be okay. Thank you so much for this award.’
The show also triumphed in the Outstanding Limited or Anthology series category over Noah Hawley – Lessons in Chemistry, Lee Eisenberg – Ripley, and Steven Zaillian. True Detective: Night Country.
Baby Reindeer enjoyed a stellar start to the night with Gunning’s win – which left her completely shocked.
Jessica ended her speech with a heartfelt message for her co-star Gadd. She said: ‘My biggest thanks has to go to Mr Richard Gadd – I’m going to burst out crying.

‘”I’ve tried so many times to put into words what working on Baby Reindeer meant to me and I fail every time so I’m going to sing… No, imagine! I’ll keep it simple and just say thank you for trusting me to be your Martha. I’ll never ever forget her or you, or this. It really means a lot, thank you Reindeer.’
Baby Reindeer was created by Scottish comedian Gadd who also starred in the series alongside Gunning, who played his stalker Martha Scott.
The series was a hit and became one of Netflix’s most watched shows ever.
But the dark comedy thriller has came under fire from those who claimed to have been depicted by the series.

Fiona Harvey came forward claiming to be the inspiration behind Martha, alleging the story was inaccurate, and filed a lawsuit against Netflix.
At the beginning of the first episode, text appears on the screen which says: ‘This is a true story.’
In the drama, said to be inspired by the real-life experiences of Gadd, his character Donny Dunn is hounded by Martha after he serves her a free cup of tea in the pub where he works.
In the TV series, Martha receives a nine-month prison sentence and a five-year restraining order, which Ms Harvey has disputed.
MailOnline reported in July that Ms Harvey was demanding £135million from the streaming giant, claiming they spread ‘brutal lies’ because ‘it was a better story than the truth’.
Harvey denies ever going to prison or to court, as the show portrays. She alleges Netflix allowed viewers to track her down in real life and that she is now being inundated with abuse, according to legal dossiers obtained by TMZ.
She asserts that she never stalked Gadd, did not sexually assault him, nor was she ever convicted of stalking.
The Scot alleges that Netflix led viewers to believe that fictional elements of the show were factual.

As a result, Harvey is suing the show for defamation, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and violations of right of publicity, among other charges.
It was previously revealed exclusively in the Mail that the show’s writer, Richard Gadd, who plays himself and based the premise on his own experiences, told makers Clerkenwell Films that his stalker was never convicted.
Sources indicate that Gadd told Clerkenwell that the stalker was the subject of an ‘exclusion order’ – a civil order and not the same as a criminal conviction of stalking.
This means that the show was always a fictionalized dramatization – though it went out under a banner which read ‘this is a true story’.
Embarrassingly, a Netflix executive, Benjamin King, recently told a Commons committee that Gadd had suffered at the hands of ‘a convicted stalker’.
It’s not clear how Clerkenwell Films described the situation to Netflix, or what compliance procedures were undertaken.
Gadd previously said Martha’s identity was so well disguised that she would not recognize herself – but internet sleuths swiftly identified Harvey as Martha.
The actress who plays the character, Jessica Gunning, bears a strong resemblance to her.
In a previous interview, Gadd has said that the situation was ‘resolved’ but did not explain how. He added: ‘It’s very emotionally true. I was severely stalked and abused.’
In an interview with Piers Morgan, Harvey denied the stalking allegations though admitted she had met Gadd several times in Camden, north London.
She has instructed The Roth Law Firm in New York.
A hearing is scheduled for September 16. A federal judge has set a 6 May start date for Harvey’s action against Netflix, and proceedings are estimated to last about two weeks, according to Deadline.
