Bachelorette alum DeAnna Pappas ‘arrested following dispute with ex-husband Stephen Stagliano’

Bachelorette alum DeAnna Pappas was arrested last month following a dispute with her ex-husband Stephen Stagliano and has since taken steps to receive a restraining order against him.

On February 27, Pappas, 43, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge after an alleged argument with Stagliano at her home after he came to retrieve their daughter Addison, according to court documents obtained by In Touch and Us Weekly. Pappas was released later that day on a $20,000 bond.

Pappas alleges Stagliano became physical with her at one point during the evening, grabbing, shoving, and pushing her, before he called law enforcement and allegedly accused her of being drunk. He reportedly said he was going to press charges against her for domestic violence.

She has denied his allegations and has since filed a restraining order against him.

Pappas was married to Stagliano for over 10 years before announcing their split and filing for divorce in 2023. They share daughter Addison, 11, and son Austin, nine, together.

DailyMail.com has contacted Pappas for comment.

The arrest appears to have come to light after Lynn Stagliano, who is presumably Stagliano’s mother, filed a declaration in the divorce alleging that on February 26 she went to pick up Austin from Pappas’ home to drop him off at school.

She claimed she could smell alcohol off of Pappas’ breath.

The conflict which led to the arrest occurred later that evening when Stagliano arrived to pick up their daughter Addison.

Pappas said she walked Addison to Stagliano’s car, but her ex asked she get closer to him so he could smell her breath, apparently suspicious she had consumed alcohol. In Touch reports she shared her claims in an opposition to Stephen’s ex parte application, which is not in the record record.

Instead, Pappas said she ‘ignored’ his remark and retreated back into her garage.

‘I heard noise behind me,’ she claimed. ‘I turned around to see Stephen following me into my garage. Addison had been left alone sitting in his car with the engine running. I tried to shut my garage door. Stephen pushed my garage door upward so that it would not close. I shouted at Stephen to get out of my garage. Stephen refused to leave.’

She said she entered her home and locked the door before returning outside after noises were allegedly being made in the garage.

She claims her ex was stealing things from the garage and that her daughter had captured the dispute on her phone.

Pappas said: ‘Stephen took his hands, grabbing me, and then forcefully shoved me. He pushed my back again. In fear that he would hurt me, I immediately went back inside the house and locked the door while I waited for the police to arrive.’

Law enforcement arrived after midnight following a call placed by Stagliano, Pappas said.

She says they informed her that Stagliano had alleged that she was drunk. They also told her Stagliano was pressing charges against her for domestic violence.

‘Stephen had told the Sheriff that I was the aggressor who assaulted him, which was false,’ she said. ‘At no time was I requested to test for alcohol despite Stephen’s allegations. In fact, the officer that arrested me exhibited no concern that I was at all intoxicated.’

She was subsequently placed under arrest and released. Pappas also says she voluntarily took a drug test after her release and tested negative for both.

Pappas shut down claims made by Stagliano that she is an alcoholic and alleged he has habitually coached their daughter to search for alcohol at her home.

She claims Stagliano has taught their daughter to ‘literally sniff out alcohol and to alienate her from me by making her believe that I am an alcoholic.’

Pappas denied being an alcoholic.

On March 7, she filed a restraining order against her ex, requiring him to remain 100 yards away from her. A hearing is currently on the books for later this month.

The duo reportedly have an agreement not to drink alcohol when their children are around, according to In Touch.

The agreement, which was made during the finalization of their divorce, states that ‘neither party shall drink alcohol in excess of the legal limit during their custody periods, or have a child and/or children in their custody and control when being intoxicated.’

In addition, the pair also have an agreement that neither shall consume narcotics within 12 hours of supervising their children or while with their kids.

Per their deal, Pappas receives $1,000 a month in child support and $1,500 in spousal support.

Pappas first appeared on season 11 of The Bachelor in 2007 starring Brad Womack, 50, and was crushed during the season finale when he sent her home along with co-runner up Jenni Croft.

She then went on to star in season four of The Bachelorette that ended with an engagement to pro snowboarder Jesse Csincsak, 40.

Their relationship lasted only a few months before the engagement was called off.

Pappas then met Stagliano through his twin brother, Michael Stagliano, who appeared on season five of The Bachelorette, which starred Jillian Harris.

They married in 2012 and welcomed daughter Addison and son Austin together.

In 2018, Pappas told Us Weekly: ‘We think you’re crazy if you don’t go to therapy. We are all a product of our environment and how we were raised and none of us are perfect.’

During the same interview, Pappas joked, ‘I’m sure Stephen would wish that we had sex on a regular basis. … But we try.’

When announcing their split in 2023, Pappas wrote on Instagram: ‘It is with immense sadness, Stephen & I have decided to end our relationship as a couple. We have been working hard for a long time — both as a married couple & as individuals — & have come to the conclusion to remain separate,’ she posted.

‘We remain loving parents to our beautiful children, Addison & Austin, & will continue to raise them together with love & faith. We ask you to respect our privacy during this difficult time as we navigate the new normal. We want to thank our dear friends & family for your endless support & many, many prayers during what has become the most difficult time of our lives,’ she added.
