BAFTAs fans have blasted Zoe Saldana’s acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress, quipping that the monologue had them ‘reaching for the hard liquor’.

The American star, 46, made her way onto the stage at The Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday to collect the gong for her star turn in Emilia Perez.

And the actress could not hold back her tears or foul language as she thanked those who had helped her along her journey, before a countdown hurried her speech.

Zoe then shouted, ‘f***, f***, f***’, as her allotted time trickled down before she was pulled off camera by staff.

Viewers were left in shock at the x-rated outburst and took to social media to express their anger at the controversial moment.

‘Zoe Saldana’s speech was such a Caitlin Reilly sketch.’

The actress was all smiles as she accepted the prestigious award from Colman Domingo and Adam Pearson.

But Zoe was soon in floods of tears after collecting the prize, admitting it is ‘so validating and a true honour’ to receive the gong after being previously told by dialect coaches that her British accent wasn’t going to work.

She also thanked her beloved husband Marco Perego, 45, referring to him as ‘God’s favourite’.

Emilie Perez, which received mixed reviews despite its star cast including Selena Gomez, was up for a staggering 11 awards but won just two, adding Best Film Not In The English Language to Zoe’s gong.

In recent weeks, the Mexican movie has garnered criticism following the comments of disgraced Spanish actress Karla Sofia Gascon.

The star, 52, was left off the BAFTA guest list, after several of her offensive social media posts resurfaced and sparked controversy amid allegations of racism, homophobia and body shaming.

The film follows Karla’s title character, a drug lord who enlists a lawyer (Zoe) to help him fake his own death and transition into a woman named Emilia Perez.

Zoe looked nothing short of sensational during the evening as she graced the star-studded red carpet in a dramatic black lace gown.

She showed off her amazing figure in the semi-sheer ensemble which boasted an eye catching off the shoulder neckline with a huge mesh collar.

Styling her long tresses in neat waves, Zoe elevated her frame in a pair of towering heels and accessorised with a silver dazzling necklace.

The biggest night in British film returned with actor David Tennant as host and an array of guest presenters on hand to deliver awards throughout the night.
