Bangladesh foreign ministry sent a letter from the Security Services Division (SSD) ordering visa facilitation for Pakistani citizens or people of Pakistani origin.
The Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Dhaka sent a message to all Bangladesh missions abroad instructing them to facilitate visas for Pakistani citizens and those of Pakistani origin.
The directive follows a letter from the Security Services Division (SSD) of the Bangladeshi home affairs ministry which was sent on Monday. Bangladesh’s missions abroad were urged to follow the instructions promptly.
The move comes shortly after Bangladesh said it would halt visa services from one of its missions in India’s Tripura’s Agartala, where protesters breached the mission due to a security lapse while demonstrating against attacks on Hindu Bengalis and other minorities in the country.
The move also comes a day after the Pakistani envoy Syed Ahmed Maroof held a meeting on Tuesday with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief Khaleda Zia, a rival of Sheikh Hasina.
