Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly interested in bringing Casemiro to his new club Besiktas. The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in this January transfer window. Solskjaer, who took over the coaching responsibilities at Besiktas last week, is looking to bolster his squad. The Norweigan manager, who was in charge of Manchester United from December 2018 to November 2021, wants to have Casemiro in his midfield, as reported by AS.

Besiktas may also make a move for Marcus Rashford, who is ready to take up “new challenges” away from Old Trafford. Addressing the rumours, Solskjaer told TRT Spor, “There’s always a lot of speculation about Man United players, always a lot of speculation around me. Casemiro and Marcus Rashford are two very good players, but I have not spoken to any of them.”

“We are looking at possibilities for transfers in a few different positions. Serdar Topraktepe, at the moment, is helping us a lot, he’s helping us a lot. It feels like the group, the energy, they are gelling well together, the coaches, the assistants, him and me,” he added.

Casemiro came to Manchester United in 2022 after Erik Teg Hag became the head coach. The former Real Madrid star, however, has fallen in the pecking order since Ruben Amorim became the boss. He has started in just four games and warmed the bench as an unused substitute in seven out of nine Premier League matches this season.

When asked about the topic, Amorim said, “He has to be the characteristics and then I have to choose the player with characteristics that I see in the game. I have to make some choices. I want to play a style of game that is sometimes different from other coaches and I have to choose based on that, that’s all.”

Besides Besiktas, Casemiro has also come under the radar of Al Nassr. If the deal happens, the 32-year-old will get to reunite with his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at the Saudi Pro League club.

Meanwhile, Rashford has also been linked with a loan move to AC Milan, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and even Barcelona. But in all these cases, his weekly wages of £325,000 have emerged as a stumbling block.
