Bharti Airtel Joins Hands With Musk’s SpaceX To Bring Starlink Internet To India

Airtel partners with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet to India. This collaboration aims to enhance Airtel’s services, expand network coverage, and connect remote areas.

Airtel and SpaceX will explore offering Starlink equipment in Airtel’s retail stores, Starlink services
via Airtel to business customers, opportunities to connect communities, schools, and so on.

Airtel has teamed up with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet services to India. This partnership will allow Airtel to offer Starlink’s services once SpaceX receives the necessary approvals to operate in the country. In the filing, Airtel said that this partnership will explore how Starlink can enhance Airtel’s existing internet services and expand its reach.

The partnership will also explore how Starlink can strengthen and expand Airtel’s network coverage. Additionally, SpaceX will have the opportunity to leverage Airtel’s ground infrastructure and resources in India.

Airtel And SpaceX Plan To Offer A Range Of Services, Including:

  • Selling Starlink equipment in Airtel stores.
  • Providing Starlink services to Airtel’s business customers.
  • Connecting remote communities, schools, and health centers, especially in areas with limited internet access.

By adding Starlink to its portfolio, alongside its existing partnership with Eutelsat OneWeb, Airtel aims to offer nationwide coverage and bridge the digital divide. This will empower businesses, communities, and individuals with seamless connectivity through comprehensive packages offered by Starlink enterprise suite.

Lieutenant General Dr SP Kochhar, Director General of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said to CNBC-TV18 that India welcomes new businesses but emphasises the need for alignment with national policies and goals. Companies must demonstrate a clear strategy that supports government objectives and benefits the Indian population.
