Bigg Boss OTT 2 fame Jiya Shankar is all set to embark on a new journey soon. The actress will reportedly be making her Television comeback with Colors TV’s upcoming show tentatively titled Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai. She will star as the female lead after a hiatus of one year. However, an official confirmation from the makers of the show regarding the same is still awaited.
As per a report by ETimesTV, the show is backed by Jaasvand Entertainment and Mahesh Poojary Production, a renowned production house known for making shows like Ram Pyare Sirf Humar, Dus June Ki Raat Hai and many more.
The makers of the show conducted auditions in several cities to find the perfect face for the female lead. After an extensive search, Jiya was shortlisted for the show. However, further details about the show and the male lead have not been disclosed.
Jiya was last seen as a contestant in the controversial reality show Bigg Boss OTT Season 2. Following her stint in the BB OTT 2 house, the actress was away from the small screen but has been quite active on her social media handles and vlogs, updating fans about her daily life. She made her big screen debut with the Marathi film Ved co-starring Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza.
Recently, the actress gave a befitting reply to a troll for passing racist comments. In a now-deleted post, an X user shared a picture of Jiya posing with a group of boys, sharing a fun moment. He captioned the picture with a mocking remark that read, “I hate my mind…time to go to hell.”
Irked by this, she immediately confronted him on the microblogging platform and also called out the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell Department for taking action. “I hope you rot in hell! So women are not supposed to take pictures with black people, be it their friends/colleagues/fans or individuals like you who will come out with their cheap racist p*rn addict mentality thinking of p*rn even if it’s a normal decent picture? Now I know why p*rn is banned in our country! People laughing and supporting this shit should be ashamed of themselves,” she wrote.
Apart from Bigg Boss OTT 2, Jiya Shankar has also been a part of shows like Pishachini, Kaatelal and Sons, Laal Ishq, Meri Haanikarak Biwi, Queens Hain Hum and more.
