Comedian Samay Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia have landed in hot waters ever since the latest episode of the show India’s Got Latent (IGL) premiered. On the episode featuring other guest judges like Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija, the digital creator who also goes by the name BeerBiceps, asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
The shocking question caused a huge uproar on the Internet, leading to multiple FIRs, official inquiries and whatnot. Many celebrities have also spoken about the controversy, taking sides based on their beliefs and principles. The latest to speak on the matter is Bigg Boss OTT 3’s contestant Chandrika Gera Dixit aka the viral Vada Pav Girl.
She posted a video on her Instagram where she defended Samay and Ranveer. As the video began, Chandrika addressed the controversy, saying that in the last few days, a video has been doing rounds on the Internet. Talking about the same controversial video from IGL, Chandrika added, “Mera hai na concern unn dono se nahi hai, mera concern janta se hai. Aap logon se hai kyunki jahan tak hum jante hai ki ye jo hamari janta hai na wo zero se hero banane ka dum rakhti hai aur agar ye kahun ki wo hero ko zero banane ka bhi dum rakhti hai toh koi galat baat nahi hai. (I’m not concerned about them; my concern is with the public. The same people who can take a person from zero to hero could also drag them down to zero).”
Furthermore, she highlighted the sheer hard work of the creators in making their content a success. The Vada Pav Girl said, “Ek creator hota hai na uska jo aura hota hai, uska jo zone hota hai wo usse hatke aapko kuch interesting dene ke liye utra taaki aap logon ko pasand aaye. Usne uske liye din raat ek kari ki bhaiyya kya pasand aayega logo ko, aap ko pasand bhi aaya. (A creator goes beyond their usual selves to bring something interesting for you, something that will grab your attention. They work day in and out, figuring out what people will like, and you liked it too).”
Chandrika ended her statement, saying, “Wo apne pure zone se hatt gaya, aapko pasand aa raha hai, aapne usko itna chadha diya, itna chadha diya par uske muhn se ek shabd nikal gaya, ek baat kya nikal gayi aapne usko itna gira bhi diya. Ek cheez batati hun aap logon ko har cheez scripted hai, aage aap samajhdaar honge. (He went out of his way, and you guys praised him as well. But one word, one sentence, you brought him down as well. However, let me tell you something: everything is scripted).”
The Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant’s video has sparked a flurry of reactions from people on the Internet. While some supported her view, sharing that such controversies are exaggerated, others criticised her statement, making her understand the gravity of the matter.
