Trump further went on to say that Harris’ campaign was “doomed from the start” during an interview for Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” issue
US President-elect Donald Trump did not hold back in criticising Vice President Kamala Harris’ failed White House bid, stating her biggest mistake was “taking the assignment” in the first place.
Trump further went on to say that Harris’ campaign was “doomed from the start” during an interview for Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” issue.
Trump, who was named Time’s “2024 Person of the Year” on Thursday, commented on Harris’ campaign, which he argued faltered because of her inability to connect with a broad audience. “You have to know what you’re good at,” he noted.
According to Trump, one of the key reasons Harris struggled was her failure to engage with a wide range of media outlets, particularly independent streamers and podcasters like Joe Rogan, New York Post reported.
“When she wouldn’t talk to anybody, it shone a light on her,” Trump said. “You know, she didn’t do anything. And people said, ‘Is there something wrong with her?’” He further added that this lack of outreach, both to the media and the public, ultimately failed her campaign.
Trump also reflected on his own media strategy, suggesting his willingness to talk to a variety of outlets helped maintain his visibility and connection with voters. “I did interviews with, if I had the time, anybody that would ask, I’d do interviews,” he remarked.

The US President-elect was named Time’s “Person of the Year” for the second time, an honour he first received in 2016 after his historic presidential election victory.
Time praised him for his “comeback of historic proportions,” reshaping American politics and the presidency.
“For marshaling a comeback of historic proportions, for driving a once-in-a-generation political realignment, for reshaping the American presidency and altering America’s role in the world, Donald Trump is Time’s 2024 Person of the Year,” Time Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs wrote in a letter to readers.
This year’s award also saw Trump competing against other influential figures, including Kamala Harris, Tesla and X owner Elon Musk, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Kate, the Princess of Wales.
