‘Biharis Created Pakistan…’: Heated Debate In Sindh Assembly Over ‘Bihari’ Word | Video

The MLA strongly objected to the word ‘Bihari’ in Pakistan’s Sindh assembly and said that the word is being misinterpreted.

A heated debate broke out in the assembly of Sindh province of Pakistan over the usage of the word ‘Bihari’ across the country. MLA Syed Ejaz Ul Haq strongly objected to taunting and making fun of him by calling him ‘Bihari’.

The MLA in the assembly stated that the word is not only being presented in a wrong way, but it is also used in a manner to insult the entire community, which played an important role in the creation of Pakistan.

Addressing the Sindh Assembly, Syed Ejaz said, “Biharis are the people who created Pakistan. Today you consider it an abuse? They raised the slogan that Hindustan will be divided and Pakistan will be created. Forgetting this is an insult to their sacrifices.”

“Today, even after 50 years people who are raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans in Bangladesh, are Biharis. And, are you considering Bihari as an abuse? Today, you calling Biharis illegal Tariq-e-Vatan?” he added.

Syed Ejaz ul Haq strongly objected to the word ‘Bihari’ in Pakistan’s Sindh assembly and said that the word is being misinterpreted.

What Is The Controversy Around The Word ‘Bihari’?

The term ‘Bihari’ is used for Muslims in Pakistan who migrated from India during and after the partition. In 1947, many Muslims from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh migrated to Pakistan (West and East).

In fact, after the formation of Bangladesh, the Bihari Muslims who returned to Pakistan from East Pakistan (Later known as Bangladesh) were also called ‘Biharis’. In Pakistan, they were identified as ‘Muhajirs’ (migrants).
