Union Home Minister Amit Shah put out a video of Election Commission officials checking his helicopter before he addressed a public gathering in Maharashtra’s Hingoli assembly constituency
Amid allegations that only opposition members are thoroughly checked in view of the assembly elections in Maharashtra, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said his helicopter and bags were inspected at Hingoli.
Shah, who addressed a public gathering in the assembly constituency later, even put out a video of Election Commission officials checking his chopper. He said the BJP believes in “fair elections and healthy election system” by following the rules.
“Today, during my election campaign in Hingoli assembly constituency of Maharashtra, my helicopter was inspected by Election Commission officials,” he said in a post on X.

“BJP believes in fair elections and healthy election system and follows all the rules made by the Honourable Election Commission. We all must contribute to a healthy election system and perform our duties in keeping India as the strongest democracy in the world,” he added.
Shah is in the state to campaign for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance ahead of the November 20 assembly elections.
The issue of poll officials checking politicians’ luggage entered electoral discourse after Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray filmed his bags being inspected and shared the video of it. He also sought to know if the bags of the chief minister, the state’s two deputy CMs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah were being checked as well.
