The BJP has found its counter to the Congress protests on the Adani issue. The ruling party and the government have decided to make the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) reports its weapon to target the Congress with in the rest of the Parliament session.

The BJP held a press conference on Thursday, besides raising the OCCRP issue in both Houses of Parliament. Calling Rahul Gandhi a traitor and an anti-national is arguably the biggest attack by the ruling party on the new Leader of the Opposition yet. The Congress has vehemently objected to the attacks.

Sources say both the Adani issue and the OCCRP issue could also make their way to the Parliament debate on the Constitution, which is slated for next week in the Lok Sabha. Senior BJP leaders told News18 that though the Adani issue has no place in a debate on the Constitution on the floor of the House, the BJP will surely counter it with the OCCRP issue if the Congress does not relent. The Congress has been holding protests, led by Gandhi, on the Adani issue outside the main gate of Parliament throughout this week.

The BJP’s case is that a covert deep state network has turned its attention to India through the OCCRP whose many reports are focussed on India. The BJP says this has only served the purpose of the Congress party and the issues it is raising – though some issues raised in OCCRP reports like the Pegasus issue have been categorically dismissed by the Supreme Court.

The BJP alleges that the Congress party, INDIA bloc and its leaders have used unsubstantiated and wild reports by OCCRP to sensationalise their own agendas. Without any regard of how these compromised agencies may be working to damage India’s growth story, these leaders have used them for political mileage, the BJP says.

A French publication recently published its own reports based on its investigation on Sarajevo-based OCCRP (Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project).

This new report by ‘Mediapart’ has claimed that the OCCRP is funded by the US government, as well as organisations linked to George Soros.
