BLM chapter leader announces he’s voting for Trump: ‘We’ve been blindly loyal to Democrats’

A Black Lives Matter leader has revealed he is voting for Donald Trump after years of being ‘blindly loyal to the Democrat party’.

Mark Fisher, who lists himself as a co-founder of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, warned that it would be a ‘disaster for the country’ if Kamala Harris is elected.

‘Historically the Democrat party has been the party that black people overwhelmingly vote for, but we haven’t gotten anything in return,’ Fisher told the New York Post. ‘To me that is the definition of insanity.’

He explained his decision was due to his belief that ‘many people were doing a lot better under Donald Trump’ and his frustration with what he sees as a lack of progress under the Democrats.

Fisher said that ‘after 60 years’, the country’s ‘ghettoes’ still look like a ‘bomb has dropped on it’, while school and education systems are failing and crime is ‘abysmal’.

In the last 60 years, the Republicans have won eight elections compared to the Democrats’ six.

‘I’ve been a lifelong Democrat, I voted for Biden in 2020 which I do regret now,’ Fisher added. ‘I come from a family of Democrats. For so long we have just been blindly loyalty to the Democratic party for no reason.

‘They have given us no reason to maintain such loyalty to them. ‘

He contrasted this with Trump, who he said implemented  ‘opportunity zones for the black community’, including ‘investments into black neighborhoods’.

‘Whoever feels like they are not being heard and is interested in conservative policies can look at Donald Trump and how could you not want to follow someone like that?’ Fisher asked.

The activist’s bio on X states that he is Black Lives Matter INC Executive Director and Founder and Black Lives Matter Rhode Island Co-founder.

However, Black Lives Matter RI’s head Gary Dantzler disputed these claims, stating that Fisher only ever worked as an advocate.

‘Mark Fisher stated he was one of the co-founders of BLM,’ Dantzler told the Providence Journal.

‘Absolutely not. He was a respected advocate for BLM. That’s it. And he was paid and somewhere he got fired and demoted.’

Another separate civil rights group, the BLM RI Political Action Committee, also issued a statement disavowing Fisher stating he, ‘is not and has never been affiliated with our organization.’

‘The views expressed by Mr. Fisher […] do not reflect the values or beliefs of BLM RI PAC,’ the group said. ‘

We would like to emphasize that Mark Fisher claims association with Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, a nonprofit organization. Any statements or actions attributed to him should not be conflated with our organization.’

Fisher has previously expressed his admiration for Trump and received the former president’s praise in return.

‘Spoke with Mark Fisher yesterday, a great guy, very honored to have his and BLM’s support,’ Trump wrote in a post on X.
