Brighten Your Skin Naturally: Easy DIY Paste To Tackle Dark Elbows And Knees

This mask can be applied 4 to 5 times a week.

List of ingredients and process to make this DIY mask as well as the process of application.

Many people experience skin darkening, particularly on areas like the neck and knees, often due to hyperpigmentation. This condition results from excess melanin production and may be linked to acanthosis nigricans, where the skin becomes thick and dark. Other factors contributing to dark skin include sun exposure, dry skin and insufficient exfoliation. Spots that form in these areas can make the skin appear dull over time.

Fortunately, there’s an easy DIY method to address this issue using simple ingredients commonly found at home. Here’s a straightforward recipe for a skin-whitening paste:

Essential Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 drops of coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons of toothpaste
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of milk
  • Half a tomato

Preparation Method:

  1. Mix the Ingredients: Place 2 teaspoons of baking soda in a bowl. If you don’t have baking soda, ENO can be used as an alternative. Add 2 teaspoons of Colgate toothpaste or powder to the bowl. Incorporate 1 teaspoon of salt and 2 to 3 teaspoons of milk. Stir the mixture until it’s well blended. Finally, add 3 to 4 drops of coconut oil to the paste and mix thoroughly.
  2. Apply the Paste: Once your paste is ready, apply it evenly on the dark spots using your fingers. Allow the paste to dry for about 15 minutes.
  3. Use Tomato for Additional Benefits: After the paste has dried, cut a tomato in half. Rub the cut side of the tomato over the treated areas. This step helps to enhance the paste’s effectiveness.
  4. Rinse and Moisturise: Wash the area with clean water to remove the paste. Follow up by applying a light massage with any oil to the skin.

To see noticeable improvements, use this treatment 4 to 5 times a week. It can be applied to the neck, elbows, knees, heels and even underarms. Always perform a patch test before using new treatments to ensure your skin reacts well.

By following this routine, you should gradually notice a more even skin tone and reduced dark spots.
