British mother-of-two, 38, dies during £5,400 ‘mum MOT’ of Brazilian butt lift, tummy tuck and boob job in Turkey

A British mother has died after having a Brazilian butt lift in Turkey that she hoped would change her life.

Kaydell Brown, 38, of Sheffield, paid £5,400 for a ‘mummy MOT’ – a package deal involving a Brazilian butt lift, a tummy tuck and a boob job. The cost in Britain would have been around £15,000.

The hairdresser underwent the procedures at Clinic Expert in Istanbul on the morning of March 26, 2024, but never came out.

Her heartbroken sister Leanne, 40, who was due to have the same surgery, slammed the Turkish clinic, branding it a ‘pop-up butcher shop that needs shutting down’.

Leanne claimed that after medics informed her of her sister’s death she was handed an envelope of cash and was booked on the next flight home.

‘It’s like, ”Sorry she’s dead, here’s your plane ticket”,’ she told ITV.

Kaydell had hoped the surgery would get her life ‘back on track’ after she put on weight due to injuring her ankle, according to her sister.

Leanne said: ‘She was really happy. She was excited. We were smiling, having a laugh and she just wanted to get there and get it done.’

Two days later, Kaydell went down to theatre in the morning for the operation, which was meant to take five hours.

But 10 hours later, her sister Leanne was told that the surgery had tragically killed her sister.

‘They told me that evening that she didn’t make it. I couldn’t believe it. I was still in a room waiting for her to come back. I had asked a few times how long she was going to be, and they kept saying, ”She’s coming”.’

After her request to see her sister’s body was refused, Leanne was forced to head back to England without her loved one.

The Clinic Expert told ITV News: ‘An internal investigation found no malpractice and Kaydell’s death was likely caused by fat blocking a blood vessel, which can occur during this type of surgery.’

Kaydell’s surgeon Dr Sinem Singin said her death was caused by known complications associated with the surgery rather than medical malpractice.

A government spokesperson said: ‘Our sympathies are with the family of Kaydell Brown.

Kaydell’s relatives have been left devastated by the shocking tragedy

‘The UK government has been actively engaging with the Turkish government on how to support the safety of patients who decide they wish to travel to Turkey for medical treatment.’

‘We urge anyone considering a cosmetic procedure abroad to research the treatment in question, the qualifications of their clinician and the regulations that apply in the country they are travelling to.’

The UK government said its officials were in contact with the Turkish authorities in regards to the mother-of-two’s death.

A British pathologist’s findings after looking at Kaydell’s body tissue have led to an inquest being opened, which was adjourned until early 2025.

Kaydell’s family has not yet been told a cause of death from Turkish authorities.

The Foreign Office said 28 Brits have died after having cosmetic surgery in Turkey since 2019.

MailOnline has contacted the clinic for comment.
