Bryan Mbeumo says it feels surreal to be joining “the biggest club in the world,” where he expects to recapture the lost glory after completing his long-anticipated transfer to Manchester United.
The Cameroon international signed from Brentford on Monday in a deal worth £65 million ($87 million), with an additional £6 million in potential add-ons.
The 25-year-old forward has agreed to a contract running until 2030, with an option for one more season. Speaking to United’s media team on Tuesday, Mbeumo described the move as a dream come true.
“From the start, I wanted to join this club—this massive club—and now that I’m here, I’m just really happy,” he said. “For me, it’s the biggest club in the world, in England as well. I think the fans are crazy, the stadium is amazing, and I think every player wants to play here.”
He also revealed his childhood connection to United, inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I think my first top was a Manchester United top with Ronaldo on the back. It’s just such a big club, and I’m really happy to be here.”
Amorim’s Third Summer Signing
Mbeumo becomes the third addition of the summer under new manager Ruben Amorim, joining forward Matheus Cunha and teenage defender Diego Leon. United, who finished a disappointing 15th in the league last season, are looking to revamp their attack after scoring just 44 goals in 38 games.
The former Brentford winger, who netted 20 goals last season, is seen as a major piece in that rebuild.
Mbeumo spoke highly of Amorim, comparing him to his former manager Thomas Frank, now at Tottenham.
“I think they have similar values,” he noted. “He seems really close to his players, with a winning mentality—that’s something I need.”
“It seems to be a really good group. Spirit is really important to winning, and I’ve only heard good things about the team.”
United will begin their pre-season tour in the United States on Tuesday. Their 2025–26 Premier League campaign kicks off at home against Arsenal on August 17.
