Under the new arrangement, weekly Sensex contracts will expire on Tuesdays each week, as opposed to the current Friday expiry.
The weekly contracts of Sensex will expiry on Tuesday of every week instead of Fridays, the BSE said
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) announced on Thursday that the expiry days for its Sensex, Bankex, and Sensex 50 derivatives contracts will be revised starting January 1, 2025.
Under the new arrangement, weekly Sensex contracts will expire on Tuesdays each week, as opposed to the current Friday expiry.
Currently, monthly contracts for Sensex expire on the last Friday of each month, Bankex on the last Monday, and Sensex 50 on the last Thursday. However, from January 1, 2025, all monthly contracts for Sensex, Bankex, and Sensex 50 will expire on the last Tuesday of each month.
In addition, the expiry date for quarterly and semi-annual Sensex contracts will also shift from the last Friday of the month to the last Tuesday.
Importantly, there will be no change to the weekly derivatives contract for Sensex, which will continue to expire on January 3, 2025.
The BSE clarified that these changes will only affect the expiry day, with no other adjustments to the contract specifications.
