Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday echoed BJP’s criticism of his INDIA bloc ally, AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of constructing a luxurious ‘sheeshmahal’ for himself and masterminding the “largest liquor scam” in the country.
The Leader of the Opposition sprinted to the no point of return by slamming the former Delhi Chief Minister for not standing up for the poor and being unavailable when communal riots erupted in the national capital in 2020.
“Kejriwal had a small car (the blue Maruti Wagon-R that the AAP leader reported stolen in October 2017) when he came, and he declared he would introduce a new kind of politics. He had climbed an electric poll and promised to transform Delhi,” Gandhi said while addressing a public rally in Delhi’s Patparganj.

Arvind Kejriwal’s close aide, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia is contesting from the Patparganj seat in the upcoming February 5 Delhi Assembly elections.
“You (Kejriwal) had said you would do clean politics but committed the biggest liquor scam. We have also seen the picture of Kejriwal ji’s house, he lives in sheeshmahal,” Gandhi remarked.
He further trained guns at Sisodia, calling him the “architect” of the alleged liquor scam. “Patparganj MLA Manish Sisodia was the architect of the liquor scam with Arvind Kejriwal and that is why he ran away from the seat,” he said.
AAP Hits Back
Arvind Kejriwal quickly responded to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, questioning his silence on the Prime Minister’s official residence, which he called a “rajmahal”.
Kejriwal further alleged that the Congress leader had echoed the BJP’s rhetoric during his speech.
“People are asking why Rahul Gandhi is silent on ‘Rajmahal’. Today, Rahul ji repeated the entire speech of the BJP in Delhi. Tell the public what agreement has been reached between the BJP and Congress?” Kejriwal asked.
Delhi’s 70 Assembly seats are set to vote in a single phase on February 5, with the results set to be announced three days later, on February 8. In the previous two elections, the AAP dominated, securing 67 and 62 seats, respectively, while the BJP and Congress lagged far behind.
