Canada’s national police force, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), is accused of beating “Hindu worshippers” with batons during a protest against an attack on a temple near Toronto. The video of the incident have surfaced on social media.
The footage, shared by Canadian journalist Daniel Bordman on Monday, alleges that police assaulted temple-goers, many of whom were waving Indian flags. In one clip, an officer is seen charging at a protester and repeatedly punching him.
Bordman claimed that the RCMP officer targeted Hindu devotees after pushing them back to protect Khalistani protesters who were allegedly harassing the temple-goers during Diwali.

“The RCMP start attacking Hindu worshippers on their own temple grounds in Surrey BC. Watch as an RCMP officer goes into the crowd to go after Hindu devotees after pushing them back to protect the Khalistanis who came to harass the temple goers on Diwali. Punching Hindus in the head and beating them with batons caught on video,” Bordman wrote in his X post.
The demonstration by the Hindu community came after clashes between protesters carrying Khalistani flags and individuals at Brampton’s Hindu Sabha Temple on Sunday, leading the High Commission of India in Ottawa to issue a strong statement, condemning the attack by the “anti-India” elements.
According to Canada’s Peel Regional Police, a protest occurred at the temple, and unverified videos circulating online appeared to show demonstrators holding banners in support of Khalistan. The footage reportedly shows fistfights and people striking each other with poles on the temple grounds.
