Three people have been left injured amid reports of a man spotted ‘armed with a crossbow’ in a major city today.
West Yorkshire Police have since declared a ‘major incident’ after three individuals were said to have been injured in Leeds.
Officers were called to the scene on Otley Road in Headingley at around 3pm today, while cordons remain in place.
Several eyewitnesses claim to have seen a man’with a crossbow’, however this has not been confirmed by the police force, Manchester Evening News reports.
A large police presence remains in place, as the force confirmed a male suspect has since been detained.
The three people who were injured are currently being treated for non life threatening injuries.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called to Otley Road, Leeds at 2.47pm today to reports of an ongoing serious incident involving a man seen with weapons.
‘Officers attended and located three people who had suffered injuries which are at this time not being treated as life threatening.
‘A male suspect was located and detained.
‘Enquiries are in their initial stages to determine the wider circumstances of what has taken place and further updates will follow.
‘A number of police scenes remain in place and ensuring public safety remains our priority.’
