Ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinals, here’s a look at how the four contenders made it to the next round of the ICC tournament.

And then there were four.

India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand have punched their tickets for the semifinals of the 2025 Champions Trophy. If you are getting the feeling of Deja vu, then you’ve solid grounds for that because these are the same four teams that made it to the last-four stage of the 2023 ODI World Cup as well. India will face Australia in the first semifinal while New Zealand take on South Africa in the first and second semifinal to decide the final two contenders for the ICC tournament.

The tournament began with eight teams including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, England, Afghanistan, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Pakistan, Bangladesh and England exited the competition without a single win while Afghanistan managed to win one of their three matches (one defeat and one no result).

Here’s a look at how the four teams made it to the semis: –

India’s Road To CT 2025 Semifinal

  • February 20: Defeated Bangladesh by 6 wickets in Dubai
  • February 23: Defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in Dubai
  • March 2: Defeated New Zealand by 44 runs in Dubai

Australia’s Road To CT 2025 Semifinal

  • February 22: Defeated England by 5 wickets in Lahore
  • February 25: Match against South Africa abandoned without toss in Rawalpindi (Rain)
  • February 28: No result against Afghanistan due to rain in Lahore

New Zealand’s Road To CT 2025 Semifinal

  • February 19: Defeated Pakistan by 60 runs in Karachi
  • February 24: Defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in Rawalpindi
  • March 2: Lost to India by 44 runs in Dubai

South Africa’s Road To CT 2025 Semifinal

  • February 21: Defeated Afghanistan by 107 runs in Karachi
  • February 25: Match against Australia abandoned with toss in Rawalpindi (rain)
  • March 1: Defeated England by 7 wickets in Karachi

Australia and India have won the Champions Trophy twice each before while New Zealand and South Africa have won the title once each. The final will be played on March 9.
