As India sealed an unprecedented third Champions Trophy 2025 triumph with an unblemished record, it has added one more jewel to the Team India’s cricket records. According to analysts, the victory is expected to have boosted the brand value of cricket players. Here’s the current brand value of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya, among others:

Virat Kohli is currently India’s most-valued celebrity with a brand value of $227.9 million (nearly Rs 2,000 crore). This is higher than any other celebrity in India, including Ranveer Singh ($203.1 million) and Shah Rukh Khan ($120.7 million).

The brand value of Rohit Sharma, who has entered his name in the history books on March 9 by becoming the first captain in the world to win the Player of the Match award in the Champions Trophy final, has a brand value of $41 million (about Rs 344 crore).

“It’s the brand value estimated in 2023 (Kroll’s ‘Celebrity Brand Valuation Report 2023’). Now, after the win of Champions Trophy under his captaincy, Rohit’s brand value is expected to have boosted especially when he received the Man of the Match title,” said an brand analyst, who did not want to be named.

He added that the value of other team members is also expected to jump significantly after the tournament win.

The brand value of Hardik Pandya, who soaked in pressure and scored 18 on Sunday, stands at $38 million. “His brand value will also have increased,” the analyst added.

Apart from these three, MS Dhoni (7th) and Sachin Tendulkar (8th) with $91.4 million each are also in the top-10 celebrities in India in terms of brand value.

According to GroupM’s latest This Year Next Year (TYNY) advertising forecast, the Indian advertising market is projected to grow by 7 per cent in 2025, reaching Rs 1,64,137 crore, with an incremental increase of Rs 10,730 crore.

How Is Brand Value Calculated?

Celebrities’ brand value is calculated based on a number of factors including:

Career success: Doing well in profession is the biggest factor in brand value. Winning championships in sports or hit movies for actors makes a celebrity more attractive partners.

Awards and good press: It is necessary for a celebrity to remain in news in a positive manner to gain brand value. The awards also boost the value of the celebrity.

“After the Champions Trophy win, both these factors have got a boost, thus likely raising the brand value of Team India cricketers significantly,” the analyst said.

Staying In Trend: Being talked about online and setting trends shows they have a strong influence on what’s popular.

Social media stats: The more the followers, like, shares and comments are, the better it is for the celebrity in terms of brand value. The engagement on the post means they can influence people’s opinions.

Endorsement history: If past endorsements have boosted the sales of the products, the brand value of the celebrity increases.

India skipper Rohit Sharma, on Sunday, March 9, led his team to the Champions Trophy title, winning his second ICC trophy as captain. Appointed India’s full-time captain in 2022, he led India in the finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup, 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup finals, 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy as well.
