The shocking incident happened on the corner of Bourke and William streets in Melbourne’s CBD, on Tuesday afternoon.Â
The window pane fell from the building at 140 William Street – which is in the heart of the city’s legal and financial district.
A video was posted to Reddit showing a massive hole in the side of a building where the window pane once was.Â
‘Glass window fell out of my office building today!!!’ the caption read.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia a pedestrian was treated at the scene for ‘minor injuries’.
‘The circumstances are yet to be determined however, the matter is not being treated as suspicious,’ she said.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said an ambulance crew wasn’t required to treat the injured pedestrian.Â

Formerly known as BHP House, 140 William Street is an iconic 41-storey, 152m tall heritage-listed commercial building, constructed between 1969 and 1972.
At the time of construction, it was Australia’s tallest steel-framed building.
The high-rise was the first office building in Australia to implement a ‘total energy concept,’ generating its own electricity using natural gas from BHP.
Social media users were left shocked by the incident.
‘Bet it would’ve sucked to be underneath that,’ one wrote.
‘Kinda hard to account for getting neatly bisected by a window pane at terminal velocity in my morning commute.’
One linked the incident to WFH with a tongue-in-cheek quip.Â
‘Another reason not to go to the office. Even the buildings are telling people to wfh,’ they wrote.
‘FAAAAAARRRRRK bad day to be a pedestrian,’ another added.
Daily Mail Australia contacted the management of 140 William Street for comment.Â
