Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk faces a potential ban of up to four years as The FA charged him with a doping offence after traces of Meldonium were found in his urine sample.

The Football Association (The FA) has charged Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk with a doping offence, and the Ukrainian now faces a potential ban of up to four years.
Mudryk was provisionally suspended in November 2024 after failing a doping test as the FA flagged adverse findings in an urine test. Traces of Meldonium, a performance-enhancing drug that was added to the WADA’s prohibited list on January 1, 2016, were found in the ‘A’ sample.

“We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations,” a FA spokesperson said.
“As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time,” he added.
Misha, as he is fondly known, hasn’t featured for the side since December, when the news of the doping violation broke out.

Mudryk, who joined Chelsea during the winter transfer window of 2023 for a fee exceeding a hundred million, signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract with the team.
The Ukrainian winger expressed his surprise at the investigation, stating, “I know I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon. I cannot say any more now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will as soon as I can,” he said in December.
“This has come as a complete shock, as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and I am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened,” Mudryk’s statement at the time read.
