The sacred four-day festival of Chhath is set to commence from November 5. People in Bihar, Jharkhand, and pockets of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi celebrate this festival with profound devotion to the Sun and Chhathi Maiyya. This year, Noida is hosting the Chhath Festival on an especially grand scale as Delhi-NCR’s largest temporary Chhath Puja Ghat is being constructed here.
The ghat is 60-feet wide, 160-feet long and about four-feet deep. Special attention has been paid to security and amenities to ensure devotees suffer no inconvenience. Dozens of CCTV cameras and hundreds of volunteers will be deployed for crowd management. Additionally, more than 20 temporary changing rooms have been set up for the devotees.
Annual Pilgrimage to Noida Ghat
The Pravasi Mahasangh Samiti has made extensive arrangements to make this year’s Chhath festival historic. Each year, around 40,000 people gather at this ghat for worship, with over a lakh devotees performing Chhath Puja rituals. A special highlight this year will be a flower shower from a helicopter, providing a unique experience for devotees.
Along with this, cultural programmes featuring Bhojpuri performances will be held, with renowned singer Jyoti Mishra set to entertain the audience with her melodious voice.
Security and Surveillance
In light of the anticipated large crowd, tight security measures have been implemented. The committee has requested the police administration to deploy special security forces and around 150 volunteers on the site. Twenty CCTV cameras have been installed, and drones will be used for monitoring, ensuring a comprehensive security system.
Alok Vats, president of Pravasi Mahasangh Noida Committee, along with treasurer Chhaya Rai, secretary Mamta Pandey and other members, stated that this year’s Chhath will be presented in a new format. “Such events in NCR will not only give devotees a traditional experience of Chhath Puja but will also offer a fresh and grand look,” said the organisers.
The management is confident that this year’s Chhath Festival will surpass previous year’s in grandeur, allowing devotees to enjoy the festivities even more.
