Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies reached a new milestone in underwater communication with new data encoding technology. The 92150 unit of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in collaboration with Xiamen University recently tested a new underwater data transmission technology. Chinese scientists working with the PLA transmitted a message 30 km during underwater testing of communication equipment, South China Morning Post reported. The test was reportedly conducted at an undisclosed location in the South China Sea, far from mainland China, with a water depth of 3,000 metres. Experts say such technologies could have a profound impact on future military and geopolitical power struggles, including a response to NATO expansion.
