Because raw garlic might irritate the stomach lining, patients with GERD should avoid eating it.

Many Bollywood celebrities are recognised for maintaining good health. Some of them actively share their fitness routines and diets, motivating their fans to be healthy and fit. Recently, Chunky Panday, 62, shared his secret mantra for a good morning and stated that he consumes two garlic cloves each day. But is it a healthy practice? Let’s find out.

Talking to Tweak India, the Housefull actor shared, “I eat two garlic cloves every morning when I get up. They claim it is excellent for your blood and arteries. If I don’t get that, I feel like I haven’t woken up yet. And it is often not available when I am overseas, leaving me helpless. Two cloves of garlic. I’m in love with two garlics. That is why you should not talk to me in the morning. My breath is so terrible.”

Here we’ve mentioned a few benefits of eating garlic cloves each morning. Take a look:

  1. Boosts Immunity: Garlic improves immune function by increasing the production of white blood cells and the activity of natural killer cells, both of which play important roles in the body’s defence against infections and illnesses.
  2. Reduces blood pressure Levels: Allicin in garlic relaxes blood vessels and promotes blood flow, lowering blood pressure. It also increases the production of nitric oxide, a molecule that aids in vasodilation and so helps to decrease hypertension. Regular consumption of garlic cloves each morning could be beneficial for people with high BP.
  3. Detoxification: Garlic cleanses heavy metals in the body thanks to its sulphur compounds, which stimulate the activity of detoxification enzymes in the liver. This detoxifying function protects organs from heavy metal damage while also improving overall health and well-being.
  4. Works as an antioxidant: Garlic is rich in antioxidants such as Selenium, vitamin C, and flavonoids that protect cells from free radical damage. These antioxidants neutralise free radicals, lowering the risk of chronic diseases including cancer and heart disease while also slowing the ageing process.

However, excessive consumption of garlic may lead to side effects such as gastrointestinal discomfort, bloating, or bad breath. Raw garlic may irritate the stomach lining, and thus people suffering from GERD must avoid its use.
