Speculations about potential blockbuster clashes for WrestleMania 41 have already started doing the rounds. Big names like Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, CM Punk and John Cena have been linked with some high-profile matches for the next edition of the WrestleMania. On the recent Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer, as per Wrestling Inc, disclosed possible plans for some of the WWE superstars, including a possible battle between Punk and Reigns. “The idea of Punk and Roman Reigns is certainly a thing that’s been going around in the past week. And I think there’s something to it,” Meltzer said according to Wrestling Inc.
At the same time, Dave Meltzer confirmed that, while it is not certain yet, rumours surrounding a potential clash between Cody Rhodes and John Cena are not unfounded either. Meltzer also said that at the very least a fight involving Cena vying for a World Title, was “very legit.”
“It absolutely was a major thing, [people] talking about WrestleMania being John Cena going for the 17th Championship and breaking Ric Flair’s record. So it could’ve been GUNTHER, it could’ve been whoever beats GUNTHER, it could’ve been Cody. Probably wasn’t going to be Cody if Rock was doing the show. Right now, it is Cody,” Dave Meltzer added.
This also goes on to confirm that Dwayne Johnson, popularly known as The Rock, probably would not be featuring at WrestleMania 41. Previously, The Rock had wiped out the rumours of him appearing at the next edition of the WrestleMania. Dave Meltzer went on to add that the situation could very well change for CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, John Cena, and Roman Reigns if The Rock changed his mind about competing.
“If Dwayne wants Cody, it’s probably going to happen that way. Maybe Dwayne will go for Roman. It’s up to Dwayne, that’s up to Dwayne. So there’s a lot of possibilities. But Punk and Roman’s one of them,” Dave Meltzer said.
The Rock and Roman Reigns had won WWE WrestleMania 40, beating Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. This was The Rock’s first WWE appearance since WrestleMania 32 in 2016. Meanwhile, the year 2025 will be the farewell one for John Cena as a professional wrestler. Rumours have been rife about Cody Rhodes will defend his title against Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
