College football star Ryan Pellum arrested over alleged ‘pistol-whip’ and gunfire incident on Christmas Day

Former Oregon wide receiver Ryan Pellum has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of hitting someone over the head with a gun and then firing two bullets.

According to Oregon Live, Pellum, who recently entered the transfer portal, faces charges of assault with use of a firearm over the incident on Christmas Day.

He was detained near the Oregon campus in Eugene earlier this week but the alleged assault took place in his hometown of Long Beach, California.

It’s said Pellum is due in court in California later this month, with cops alleging he pistol-whipped someone with a 9mm gun, with the victim needing stitches in their head.

The freshman, who spent one season with the Oregon Ducks, is then accused of firing two rounds from the pistol in an unknown direction.

Pellum is the nephew of former Oregon linebacker Don Pellum, who is currently defensive coordinator for the Ducks.

Reports say bail was posted by an unknown person for Pellum, who was arrested after an extradition warrant was issued by cops in Long Beach.

The freshman was part of an Oregon team that was the No 1 seed heading into the college football playoffs.

The Ducks enjoyed a 13-0 regular season, tying a school record for wins in a single season as they won the Big 10. But Oregon was beaten by No 6 Oregon State in the playoffs.
