Corbin Bosch had a memorable outing for South Africa in the recently concluded first Test against Zimbabwe.

South African Corbin Bosch played a key role in world champion South Africa brushing aside Zimbabwe in the first Test of their two-match series in Bulawayo. Bosch, playing in just the second Test of his international career, scored an unbeaten century before taking a five-for as South Africa stormed to a 328-run win on Tuesday at the Queens Sports Club.
Bosch thus became just the fourth South African cricketer to complete the double of a century and a five-wicket haul in the same Test. He joins the likes of Jimmy Sinclair (1899), Aubrey Faulkner (1910) and Jacques Kallis (1999 and 2002) in the elite list.
Sinclair was the first ever player to do so while Faulkner the second.
Bosch is the first South African to do so in an away Test.
The 30-year-old made his Test debut in December 2024, against Pakistan in Centurion. He enjoyed a prolific first outing in Test whites, scoring an unbeaten 81 and taking five wickets during the contest. He also recorded a golden duck in the second innings even as South Africa completed a two-wicket win in Centurion.
South Africa Equal Longest Winning Streak
The win was South Africa’s ninth straight in Test cricket and they have drawn level with their longest such streak set in 2002-03. Their current run began with a 40-run win over the West Indies in August 2024. Last month, they created history by winning their first ever ICC World Test Championship after dethroning the defending champions Australia in a pulsating final held at Lord’s.
With 16 wins in a row, Australia hold the record for the longest winning streak in Test history. Their first such run began in October 1999 till February 2001 before repeating the feat between 2005 and 2008.
Zimbabwe’s Heaviest Defeat
The defeat was Zimbabwe’s heaviest in terms of run-margin in Tests. Prior to the latest thrashing, their biggest defeat (by runs) in a Test came at the hands of Sri Lanka – 315 runs in Galle.
