The Assam cabinet on Friday approved a 2% DA hike for the state government employees, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. With this, the dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for Assam government employees have increased to 55 per cent.
This 2% DA hike would be in effect from January 1. It will benefit both state government employees (DA) and pensioners (DR).
Addressing a press conference, Sarma described it as a Bihu gift for state employees and pensioners. “We will pay the enhanced DA with last month’s salary, while the arrears will be paid with the salaries of April and May,” he said.
Recently, the central government also hiked DA and DR for its employees by 2 percentage points.
