UFC president Dana White believes Paddy Pimblett has silenced his doubters after picking up the biggest win of his career on Saturday night.

Pimblett secured a brutal TKO victory over No 7 lightweight contender Michael Chandler in the co-main event of UFC 314 in Miami with US president Donald Trump in attendance.

The Liverpudlian dominated the bout before finishing the bloodied American with ground and pound in the fourth minute of the third round.

The 30-year-old has now taken his UFC record to 7-0 and solidified and proved his credentials to fight the very best the sport has to offer.

And White thinks Pimblett has put a stop to any questions over his legitimacy as a top contender.

‘Paddy Pimblett showed tonight that he is the real deal,’ White said. ‘Beating Michael Chandler and beating him the way he did… I don’t know how you can doubt the kid anymore.

Asked if he’ll now be facing a big opponent next, White replied: ‘tonight was a pretty big name opponent too but yeah… he’s in that spot now where he’s going to be fighting top guys.’

‘Tonight was a big night for Paddy Pimblett. People have been doubting him every single fight he fights and he’s undefeated in the UFC.’

When asked by Joe Rogan to reflect on how the victory unfolded in his post-fight interview, Pimblett said: ‘Everything I’ve worked on, that’s just happened here, we gameplan and use our fight IQ.

‘Anyone else got any questions? I want that world title, people said I would never be ranked, never be top 10. Dustin (Poirier), Justin (Gaethje), Charles (Oliveira) or posh boy Tsarukyan. F*** Arman, he’s a little sausage.’

White also had some words of praise for Chandler despite a defeat that makes it three losses in a row for the 38-year-old.

‘He’s always in the fight,’ he said. ‘Chandler’s like our Arturo Gatti. Every time that guy goes in you know you’re in for a good fight. You know it’s gonna be a war and you don’t know if he’s gonna win or lose.’
