Also spotted on set was creator, writer and lead star Ryan Sampson – who plays Glen, Lee’s straight-laced estranged brother.
The first series of Mr Big Stuff’s success saw it become Sky Max’s highest-rated new original comedy in three years, which reportedly led bosses to wanting more.
A TV insider told The Sun upon its release: ‘Danny seems to have found his niche playing a rough-round-the-edges geezer in an out-and-out comedy show.
‘He always said when he quit the BBC One soap that he felt there was one defining role that had so far eluded him.
‘Maybe he’s finally found that part on Mr Bigstuff. Sky execs certainly seem very impressed.’
Danny plays estranged, wayward brother, Lee, trying to patch up his sibling rivalry.
The storyline is described as a ‘story of two estranged brothers; Glen (Ryan Sampson), a nervy perfectionist striving to live the suburban ideal and Lee (Dyer) an alpha male with a prescription drug addiction and a biscuit tin full of his dad’s ashes.

The star said: ‘I thought, ‘Oh wow, this is totally different from the character of Mick, and something that people have never really seen me do before.’
‘This is a joy. To be on a set where everyone’s laughing, it’s a different kind of energy.
‘I would love to push it further, this comedy thing, if I get an opportunity.’
The first series ended on a cliffhanger and Ryan said of the follow-up: ‘Filthy secrets, dirty lies. Someone’s gonna have to come clean.’
The next season will launch on Sky and NOW in 2025.

The star explained to Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Kemi Rodgers in July why Mr Big Stuff is the first of its kind.
Chris asked Danny: ‘Am I right in thinking this is your comedy debut, Danny?’
Danny replied: ‘Yeah, I mean, Plebs was funny I did a little bit in that, but, yeah. Never had a responsibility of playing a lead in comedy things, I was in EastEnders for a long time, and EastEnders is not known for being funny.
‘It’s quite dark… I think you get allocated the funny character, I wasn’t that you know what I mean? I was desperate to try a different kind of discipline.
Chris insisted: ‘But you must have been offered so many times, those kind of comedy roles, what about this role made you go for it?’
Danny answered: ‘Well, not really, I did 10 years on EastEnders, I was out of the game, I was crossed off of every casting sheet, I didn’t exist anymore to the industry.
‘That’s the way it works, it’s a great job, EastEnders, it brings you stability, but, at the same time, you can’t go out and do other things, it just isn’t going to happen.’
